College Polls Rank FSC High in Dollars and Cents

The votes have been tallied, and the latest Best Colleges polls by U.S. News & World Report, Washington Monthly, PayScale.com, and Money give FSC high marks in several key areas.

The U.S. News poll is particularly satisfying: Among public colleges in the North region, FSC placed #11.  When you include both public and private colleges, Farmingdale ranks #21.  “Best Value” came in at #12 – up six spots over last year. The college ranks #11 in the “Best Colleges for Veterans” category.

The good news continues. Washington Monthly ranks Farmingdale in the top one-third of 386 baccalaureate-granting colleges in the Northeast for “Best Bang for the Buck.” Schools are ranked, says the magazine, “according to how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.” Even more impressive, FSC polls at #39 among 216 baccalaureate schools. Washington Monthly goes on to say: “We rank baccalaureate colleges based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service.”

Money says FSC is in the top 40% of colleges in “Best Colleges for Your Money,” and that we are “a crucial part of the SUNY system.” Payscale.com also gives FSC a hearty thumbs up when it comes to value, ranking the College #170 in a sampling of 2,000 academic institutions. And within SUNY, FSC ranks #4 in ROI (Return on Investment) after Maritime, Binghamton, and Stony Brook.

All in all, these polls reveal what the campus community already knows: FSC offers a first-rate education, at a price that’s right.
