Renewable Energy & Sustainability Center Named Organization of the Year

The Renewable Energy & Sustainability Center (RESC) at FSC has won the 2019 Organization of the Year award from the IEEE Long Island Section. The award was given for the outstanding seminars, conferences, and lectures presented by the RESC.

“I am honored that our efforts with regards to educational outreach to the engineers and professional community on Long Island in the area of energy and sustainability has been recognized,” said Professor Marj Issapour, director of the RESC. “RESC at FSC maintains a strong academic and industry partnership for all of our programs.

“I am grateful for the strong support of our dean, Dr. Barbara Christe, and the administration of the college for their support of RESC’s initiatives.”

The award was presented recently at the IEEE annual awards banquet, at which President Nader was the keynote speaker. His topic was “What’s Really Happening in Higher Education.”

The mission of the RESC is to enhance public awareness of emerging renewable energy resources, through a focus on applied research and workforce training in the renewable/sustainable and smart grid technologies. The RESC is housed in the School of Engineering Technology, and offers free training programs in other technology and manufacturing areas to serve the workforce needs of the Long Island.
