Campus Mental Health Services, in conjunction with the Office of the President,  is hosting a lecture and discussion by LI attorney Carolyn Reinach Wolf, on “Student Mental Health Issues on Campus: Best Practices, Scope of Practice, Liability Control and Risk Management.”

The presentation will take place Tuesday, 3/26, 11 a.m., Roosevelt Hall Little Theater.

Ms. Wolf’s talk is open to the campus, and may be of particular interest to the Administrative Council, Student Affairs, Health Services staff, as well as advisement and opportunity-program professionals. Learn more about topics that are of increasing importance in higher education. Ms. Wolf is expected to address how to mesh campus efforts to ensure high-quality services for students, while mitigating institutional risk.

Mental health services will be needed more than ever as the next class of freshman arrive on campus. A recent Pew Research Center survey of 13 – 17 year-olds found that 70 percent of them cited anxiety and depression as a major problem in their lives. On campus at present, according to Campus Mental Health Services, there has been a dramatic increase in the need for its services, mirroring that at other colleges.

She is the only attorney in the country with a family-focused mental healthcare practice supported by a team of expert clinicians specializing in the complex landscape of legal issues that impact loved ones with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. She also represents major hospital systems, community hospitals, skilled-nursing facilities, and outpatient programs.

In 2013, The New York Times Sunday edition featured a story on Ms. Wolf, titled “A Guide in the Darkness.” She is a frequently invited speaker and consultant to healthcare organizations, as well as institutions of higher education and professional associations throughout the country regarding mental health law issues and related topics.
