Message about Winter Recess from the President

Attention all members of the campus community to this message from President Nader about the status of campus buildings during the Christmas/New Year’s holidays.

The College is once again planning to reduce expenses by maintaining services to a minimum number of buildings during the holiday break this year.  We will be closing most campus buildings on Monday evening, December 24, 2018 through and including Tuesday, January 1, 2019. All campus buildings will reopen for normal operations at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

As usual during this time frame all staff are encouraged to utilize appropriate leave credits and enjoy the holidays. Physical Plant and University Police staff must check with their immediate supervisors regarding their work status through this period. Food Service facilities and The Children’s Center will remain closed during this week.

If you are a member of the Professional or Classified Staff and you plan to work during this period, please complete the attached form and return it to your supervisor as soon as possible.  Completed forms must be submitted to HR by Friday, December 7.  No forms will be accepted after that date.

Be sure to take any personal items or work materials you may need during the break when you leave work on December 24 as you will be unable to access your office during this period.

For those of you wishing to work, an alternate location on campus will be made available.  College computers and network access will be available, however, keep in mind that duties may be altered somewhat to accommodate the changed location. Although supervision will be provided, there will be no group work tasks assigned during the week, therefore it is expected that staff will report with their own work.

TIME AND ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES: There are four working days during this time period and individuals who will be taking time off are required to charge appropriate leave accruals: vacation, personal, or compensatory time.

If you choose to work, please fill out this Notice of Intent.

Please make certain that all departments leave a message on their telephone voice mails explaining that Farmingdale State College will be closed from the evening of Monday, December 24, 2018 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 as part of its energy-saving program.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
