Message on Thanksgiving Schedule

*Attention Classified and Management Confidential staff, to this message from President Nader about the Thanksgiving holiday:

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and, as usual, we would like to take this opportunity to conserve energy and close down the campus for the long weekend.

Virtually all buildings will be closed and temperatures in these buildings reduced. Therefore, I request that all classified (CSEA, PEF) and management confidential (M/C) employees, excluding Physical Plant and University Police staff deemed necessary by their supervisors for adequate operations, take the day after Thanksgiving off and charge it to the appropriate leave time (vacation, personal, or compensatory time).

Your participation in this effort is strictly voluntary. For those of you wishing to work, an alternate location on campus will be made available. However, your duties may be altered somewhat to accommodate the changed location.

To facilitate the appropriate supervision, all employees should advise their supervisors by Monday, November 12, of their intention to report to work. Supervisors should notify the Human Resources office no later than Wednesday, November 14, which employees will be reporting for work on Friday, November 23.

I hope this extended holiday weekend will give you an opportunity to spend more time with your families and friends and add enjoyment to your holiday. Please accept my thanks and appreciation for your cooperation in our effort to conserve energy. Best wishes for a happy holiday.

*UUP employees will observe Election Day on the day after Thanksgiving.
