We reported in Campus Times a few weeks ago that FSC had joined Northwell Health and Adelphi University in a campaign to raise money to buy solar lanterns, which would be donated to families without power in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.

The good news is, the goal of providing 500 lanterns was met. The better news is that the campaign doubled its goal, and 1,000 lanterns have been sent to Puerto Rico.

The Research Aligned Mentorship (RAM) Program
is celebrating the recent accomplishments and activities of FSC’s RAM Scholars, in a newsletter that profiles students representing each of FSC’s Schools.

Visual Communications Professor Thomas Germano is displaying his most recent paintings of Italy.

There is also a lecture by Professor Germano, scheduled for Tuesday, 12/19, 2 – 3:30 p.m., followed by a reception, 3:30 – 5 p.m.

The lecture – “Process, Subject and Composition” – will be held in the Great Auditorium.

Top 100.

Throughout 2017, magazine and website polls have been acknowledging FSC for the top-flight education it provides its students.

Following in the footsteps of U.S. News & World Report, BestValueSchools.com, and BusinessFirst.com, the latest to rank the College is Washington Monthly magazine. FSC placed #62 in a competitive group of 150 baccalaureate-offering colleges.

Schools were ranked according to Social Mobility, Research and Service.

Commencement is just a month away: 11 a.m., Tuesday, 1/23 (snow date is 1/24).

Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles, including assisting the graduates before the ceremony with check-in, robing, and line-up. Door ushers greet guests, distribute programs, and assist those with limited mobility to their seats.

If you want to help, you are needed from 9 – 11 a.m., when the ceremony begins.

FSC’s club roller hockey team, the Farmingdale State Rams, is on a roll. Literally. So is the club ice hockey team.

Both sit atop their respective divisions: the roller hockey team – defending national champs – is 15-0, and the #1-ranked Division 1 team in the nation, according to the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association’s Coast2Coast poll. The ice hockey team is 18-1, ranked #1 in the Atlantic Region. They are also the #1 Division 3 team in the nation,
