The Benefits of “Doing Good”

Tuesday, 3/28, 11 a.m.     Gleeson 102

Steven Kess, Vice President of Global Professional Relations for
Henry Schein, Inc. and co-founder of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s social responsibility program, will give an Inauguration Week talk on “Doing Well by Doing Good.”

Says Kess: “Since its founding 85 years ago, Henry Schein has been guided by the idea that we can fulfill our responsibilities as a corporate citizen by giving back to the industries and communities we serve. Firmly rooted in a deep commitment to social responsibility and the concept of enlightened self-interest championed by Benjamin Franklin, the philosophy of ‘doing well by doing good’ is exemplified through Henry Schein Cares, our global corporate social responsibility program. Through the work of Henry Schein Cares to enhance access to care for those in need, the company believes that it is furthering its long-term success.”

An advocate for underrepresented minorities, Kess has been particularly active in the area of diversity and access to health care for at risk populations. He is Chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Board of Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, and serves on the boards of the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, Tel Aviv University School of Dental Medicine, and Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry.

Henry Schein, Inc. is a publicly traded Fortune 500 company. This talk will be of particular interest to health sciences, social justice, business and entrepreneurial students.
