George LaRosa

You don’t work 40 years at one place and not make life-long friends and admiring colleagues. Such is the case – to the nth degree – with George LaRosa, FSC’s Senior Vice President and CFO.

Last week George announced that he will be retiring at the end of the 2017 spring semester, and the reaction to the news covered the gamut from tears to congratulations. President Nader had this to say: “George’s contributions and influence on Farmingdale have been enormous. The College has grown and prospered largely as a result of his knowledge, skills, and commitment. I will personally miss his guidance and counsel which have been absolutely vital to me in the short time I have been President. And while I—and all of us—will greatly miss him, his retirement is richly deserved.”

Others chimed in as well:

  • Patrick Calabria, Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Enrollment Management: “George’s support for our enrollment needs has been an important factor in Farmingdale’s continuing growth.  And his outstanding reputation within SUNY has raised the profile of the college. His impact on the campus in countless ways can only be described as remarkable. People say that no one is irreplaceable. They are wrong. George is.”
  • Dr. Lloyd Makarowitz, Chair, Physics Department:  “The friendly family-like atmosphere we enjoy at Farmingdale State College is in no small measure due to the fine character of the people who work here. This is embodied most fully in our Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, George P. LaRosa. George has served the College for nearly four decades. His diligence and foresight have provided us with a degree of financial stability and security that is unique among the state campuses. Even more importantly, George is a man of impeccable integrity and humanity. We will miss him very much, as he is truly irreplaceable.”
  • Dr. Veronica Henry,  Executive Assistant to the President, Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator: “George LaRosa is leaving a rich legacy of his loyalty, commitment and professionalism to the College as he moves into retirement. I want to thank him for his support of my professional growth and development over the years.”
