Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at FSC is organizing a bus from campus to Washington, D.C. for the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday, January 21, 2017.*
Buses will leave from the Campus Center at 5 a.m. and return at 11 p.m. A $43.19 ticket includes round-trip bus fare and gratuity for the driver. There is also an anonymous sponsorship program for those who would like to donate a seat to someone who cannot afford to purchase a ticket.Continue reading →
More than 400 books have been collected by the FSC chapter of Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society for a new library in Ghana, West Africa.
Twenty-seven boxes of books are being sent to Besease, a poor rural community in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The project, which ran 12 weeks and ended this month, was a campus-wide effort that included Chi Alpha Epsilon students and adviser Gene Peters, in addition to the staff of FSC’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).Continue reading →
There is no greater advocate for FSC freshman than Dr. Beverly Kahn, and now, in recognition of her work on their behalf, she is receiving the Outstanding First-Year Student Advocacy Award from the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina.

FSC’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was honored recently with a Certificate of Excellence by the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery for its outstanding work in helping get small businesses devastated by Super Storm Sandy and Hurricane Irene back on their feet.
The SBDC’s years-long effort produced these results:
- Assisted 1,212 small businesses
- 668 clients received more than $43 million in funding
- 4,056 jobs saved and 130 jobs created
