President Nader addresses faculty, staff, board members and students at Convocation

A packed house of faculty, staff, board members and student leaders filled Roosevelt Hall last week for Fall Convocation – the first hosted by FSC’s new president, Dr. John S. Nader.  A mutual admiration society was forged immediately, as President Nader – with a mix of passion and humor – connected quickly with those in the room.

The theme of the event was “Powered by Optimism” – the philosophy President Nader has espoused since he first set foot on campus.  After recognizing new faculty, staff and student leaders, and announcing promotions, appointments and awards, Dr. Nader covered a wide range of subjects, such as rising graduation and retention rates; the success stories of  applied learning initiatives; the new MS in Technology Management and proposals for new BS and BT degrees awaiting SUNY approval; recruitment success of the RAM program; plans for a new Applied Science building; the new shuttle service, and more.

Dr. Nader then talked about the kind of leader he is going to be: passionate; a good listener; collaborator; communicator, and student champion.
