April is Donate Life Month

April is National Donate Life Month, a month which helps encourage Americans to register as organ/tissue donors to help save lives through the gift of donation. Although the 4th most populous state, New York is actually last on the list of registered organ donors. Many are hoping that that number can change.

SUNY has partnered with New York State senate majority leader John Flanagan to raise awareness and increase advocacy of the need for organ donors in NY. Chancellor Nancy Zimpher filmed a PSA with Senator Flanagan which explains the need and informs viewers how to get involved.

SUNY has created a web page at Donate Life which provides details on the need for organ donors and connects visitors to the NYS registration page.
