Mentors Extend a Helping Hand to Nursing Students

Professor Kim O’Hara has implemented a Nursing mentorship program in which upper- division students assist freshmen nursing students as they navigate the demands of the program.

Student mentors have attended Open House to help answer questions, as well as Admissions’ nursing information sessions to provide the inside scoop on the program and strategies on how to succeed. Even though FSC’s nursing program is very popular, it’s important to make sure that top candidates enroll.

As we all know, increasing completion rates for SUNY students is a priority for Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.

Nursing Admissions Counselor Ryan Neary said, “Having a nursing mentor in the admissions session has been very helpful.  While I can explain how to get into the program, the student mentor knows the inner workings of the program.”
